About the Band
CARIBBBEAN HEATWAVE is
a non-profit Trinidad–Style–Band taking part in
Germany’s biggest multi-cultural carnival: Early each summer “Karneval der Kulturen”
attracts more than 100 bands and over 800.000 spectators jamming in the streets of Berlin !!!
CARIBBEAN HEATWAVE tries to wake up the people in Germany
with the exciting hot vibes of the Greatest Show on Earth: Carnival in Trinidad!
A born Trini and grown up in Tobago Gail Edmund-Faatz is our Queen
and she is also the designer and bandleader of CARIBBEAN HEATWAVE.
Having played Mas with “Callaloo”
from Berlin and the "Shademakers"
from Bielefeld and London the years
before, we then started our own thing:
As “Caribbean Cosmo” we presented
"Come
to Life" in 1999 and
succeeded to win the competition with "Tropical
Heatwave" in 2000.
Improving our name now to
CARIBBEAN
HEATWAVE we joined the
final celebrations of the World
Exhibition EXPO 2000 in Hannover. In
2001 our new show "Reflections"
first really highlighted Berlin’s huge
“Karneval der Kulturen” and one week
later the nice-nice "Carnival
der Kulturen" in Bielefeld.
In 2002 we presented the show "Reflections"
again, having a lot of fun dancing in
the rain. One year later in 2003
we had much more luck with the weather,
and our "Exotic
Birds" had a lot of fun wining
down the street.
